( private - behind closed doors )
[ It was nice to be alone in her office. After hours, when the rest of the Knights are changing duties or going home – Jean can have silence. It's often Lisa or even Klee busting down her door to prattle on about things that make her smile endlessly. It was... nice, but it puts her behind. Hours behind.
Curiously, there is one person who does rarely find her in her office during the day – and that is precisely who will bother her tonight.
Spilled ink on a parchment paper delays her further from getting that paperwork done, to sign off on an upcoming convoy to Liyue – the kind that needs protection. She's already cleaned most of it up but with her papers scattered, she'll need to draft a new request... poor Jean, overworked and never knowing when to quit.
The reality of it was – if not her, who? She believes in the Knights, in their comradery and their strength but... perhaps after seeing what Barbatos had dealt with on a more personal level, she wishes to live up to expectation knowing her own Archon was in the city.
So sad she doesn't live in his honor and end up seated next to the Knights at Angel's Share more often than not. Ah well, back to work. ]

the light is still on.
that's not surprising, but it is concerning. that's the third time this week, isn't it? without announcement, he opens the door and leans his shoulder against the doorframe. ]
Really, won't Margaret's runaway cat be a better concern for tomorrow?
[ he doesn't even apologize for the disturbance. ]

Jean's office was the first one on the way in and the last one on the way out – Kaeya would have stopped by one way or another with how those lights trickle through the cracks in the door.
She's looking down, scooping up papers and giving them a ruffle to try and organize them back when a coy, confident voice floats through the air as if it was a dandelion seed of its own. Peering up, she laughs if only a bit awkwardly... like a child who got caught.
Because she's heard this before: the segue where Kaeya insists she goes home or takes it easy. ]
The cat will be, but these requests have to be finished to send out to for tomorrow's duties. [ Jean stands, ducking her head just a little in respect to her Cavalry Captain as well as – ah, complicated friend.
..."Friend" being loosely defined, but all the more endearing. Quite a nice change of pace considering how Kaeya could feel being here in Mondstadt. ]
Just a few more minutes and I'll be off.
[ "A few dozen more", may be more accurate. ]
