[ the two of them were always different in their approaches of rulership over their nations, particularly due to their conflicting natures. it had never been a source of discord, but instead a source of challenge. Zhongli would have never been able to loosen his grip on Liyue without inspiration from its neighbor, but that was a testament to their relationship. perhaps it was their mutual want to guide humanity that bridged the gap of common interest, or maybe that conflict of nature was a challenge in some respect.

with the basket still hanging from his elbow, Zhongli unravels his arms. the other rests between Venti's shoulders, light, something of a gesture of support that he's learned over the last thousand-or-so years. Barbatos may grate against him like nails against glass, but he's still one of his oldest friends. he can extend what he can to soften certain subjects that he knows are difficult to broach.
